Faith* was trafficked by her grandfather.
A 25-year-old from Gambia, Faith received a call from her grandfather roughly a year ago asking for $200 for a passport, $500 to bribe police in Senegal, and $1,500 for a visa. In return, he promised that she would obtain a teaching position in a foreign country.
When she borrowed money from her aunt and arrived in the country, traffickers collected all of her documents and papers, taking her to a house to work as a maid. She was abused and forced to work without pay for 5 months. Six months ago she fled to a local shelter for trafficking victims.
Many other women used their family's life savings to go abroad, with the promise of well-paying jobs in restaurants and hotels. Often, they receive no salary and are beaten and sexually abused. They are told they have a debt that they must repay.
Freedom For All has brought 28 women home to Cameroon, Nigeria, Zambia and Ghana, but there are many more women stranded.
Your contributions will make a tremendous impact in the lives of the women, who will receive 100% of your donations.
